TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE TRANSFER TO UNGHENI, REPUBLIC OF MOLDOVA! #Covenant of Mayors!Representatives from eight signatory municipalities of the Covenant of Mayors, which are at an advanced stage of implementation of Local Action Plans for Sustainable Energy and Climate, participate in a two-day training dedicated to project management and the creation of project implementation units.

Ungheni is an active city committed to promoting sustainable development, having been an active signatory to the Covenant of Mayors since 2012, when it set a target of reducing CO2 emissions by 20% by 2020. In March 2023, Ungheni renewed its commitment, now aiming for a 35% reduction in emissions by 2030. Ungheni has also successfully developed and implemented a Sustainable Energy and Climate Action Plan (SECAP), with a particular focus on the use of renewable energy sources and adaptation to climate change.
During the training, Jan Waanders, an expert with more than 15 years of experience in infrastructure project management, shared knowledge and lessons learned for an in-depth understanding of key project management concepts and methods.
Ina Olearciuc, representative of Ungheni City Hall, spoke about the experience of Ungheni municipality in implementing energy efficiency projects, urban mobility, smart street lighting, etc.
The second day of training dedicated to project management takes place in Mircesti, Ungheni.
We have a day full of valuable information and interactive discussions on stakeholder engagement and communication plan, as well as funds and funding sources for energy and climate projects.
Silvia Strelciuc, an expert in the field of project management, actively engaged participants in exchanging ideas and experiences, with a focus on lessons learned.
Fundraising was a major focus. Silvia Strelciuc presented us with practical measures and tools to raise funds for our projects, including setting up partnerships and monitoring funding opportunities.
