THE VILLAGE OF CĂRBUNA IS IMPROVING ITS ENERGY INFRASTRUCTURE AND MAKING SUSTAINABLE INVESTMENTS, THANKS TO THE SUPPORT OF THE GERMAN GOVERNMENT, THE INVOLVEMENT OF THE DIASPORA AND LOCALS, AND THE CONTRIBUTION OF THE GOVERNMENT OF MOLDOVA!

The village of Cărbuna is improving its energy infrastructure and making sustainable investments, thanks to the support of the German Government, the involvement of the diaspora and local people and the contribution of the Moldovan Government.
Access to drinking water for the 1680 inhabitants of the village of Cărbuna will now no longer depend on the centralised energy source, nor on its price. This will become possible after the installation of three photovoltaic panel stations, each with a power of 12.5 kW. The electricity produced by the newly installed panels will be used to pump drinking water into people's homes from three artesian wells in the village.
"These panels will allow us to halve the price of drinking water, which is currently 10 lei per cubic metre of water," says Constantin Cecoi, mayor of the village of Cărbuna.

The villagers are pleased, as the project will save several hundred lei a month in a family's budget.
The photovoltaic system is expected to be up and running by the end of this year, marking a new beginning for the community of Cărbuna.

The village of Cărbuna is a beneficiary of the DAR 1+3 programme, implemented with the financial support of the German government.
The activity took place in the framework of the project "Energy Resilient Communities for Moldova with the support of diaspora and native associations", implemented by AEER in partnership with the Covenant of Mayors for Climate and Energy in Moldova.
This activity is carried out in the framework of the project "Policy Advisory Fund", funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and implemented by GIZ Moldova.
