14 BENEFICIARY LOCALITIES HAVE BEEN SELECTED IN THE DIASPORA AT HOME SUCCEEDS "BUT 1+3" PROGRAMME!

Representatives of 14 beneficiary localities of the project "Energy Resilient Communities for Moldova with the support of Diaspora and Native Associations" participated in a training dedicated to the management and implementation of energy efficiency and renewable energy projects at local level.

Irina Plis, Project Manager, Executive Director of ARER, noted that the project is an excellent example of partnership building - from the Government of Moldova, local public authorities, development partners/donors, diaspora associations, native associations, citizens' initiative groups and civil society, and that this experience can be used for further investment projects in energy efficiency and renewable energy sources.
The training is hosted by the Energy Efficiency Agency - a valuable partner in building the capacity of local public authorities in the field of energy efficiency.

Mr Ion Muntean, Director of the Energy Efficiency Agency, mentioned the reorganisation of the EEA and invited municipalities to be active and involved in the new directions of the future public institution.

Ms. Nadejda Zubco, Head of the Diaspora Relations Office, mentioned that "DAR 1+3" is one of the main programs that BRD offers to the authorities, maintaining the importance and topicality of the topic chosen by the beneficiaries present at the training.
During the training, new changes in the legal and regulatory framework were presented (Mr. Manole Balan, Deputy Director of EEA), practical aspects of implementing energy efficiency projects and lessons learned in previous projects implemented by the signatory localities of the Covenant of Mayors for Energy and Climate (Mr. Piotr Comarov, EEPR expert, Mr. Leonid Boaghe, Mayor of Sireti). Innovative aspects of implementing solar energy projects were also presented (Mr Vladimir Ursu, technical expert of the project).

Energy efficiency remains high on the agenda of mayors and citizens alike. Therefore, by applying efficient models and new technical solutions, we will not only save public resources, but we will also be an inspiration for citizens on how to save energy and money.

The activity takes place in the framework of the project "Energy Resilient Communities for Moldova with the support of Diaspora and Native Associations", carried out by AEER, in partnership with the Energy Efficiency Agency and the Covenant of Mayors for Climate and Energy in Moldova.

The project is implemented with the support of the project "Policy Advice Fund", funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and implemented by the German International Cooperation Agency (GIZ).
