Methods of improving the environmental situation by recycling waste from viticulture and winemaking at small wineries

The briquetting equipment for viticulture wastes arrived at the #NovakWinery, which became the first beneficiary of the project "Making profit from wine waste: opportunities for the Moldovan Wine Industry", which is implemented by the Czech University of Life Sciences from Prague, Faculty of Tropical AgriSciences in partnership with AEER, with the financial support of UNDP under the “Challenge Fund” program.

In this regard, Czech specialists came to assemble the delivered equipment and carry out commissioning and training of the winery's employees on its operation and maintenance.

It should be noted that this equipment is necessary for processing vine cuts and wine production waste into briquettes, which will be used as fuel for the boiler house. Since this plant is not connected to the gas supply system, the winery is using wood and coal as fuel for the boiler house, while missing the opportunity to use their own available raw material.

This project has a demonstration purpose and aims to show how you can save heating costs and at the same time improve the environmental situation by recycling waste from viticulture and winemaking in small wineries.
