SGP/GEF/UNDP: Energy Management and Innovative Use of RES (ManEn + RES)!

The project aims to assist local public authorities in developing local energy management systems to improve their energy performance, energy security and environmental sustainability. The project is proposed to be implemented in 5 localities in the Republic of Moldova (Mereni, Budești, Lozova, Vorniceni, Sireți) represented by Local Public Authorities (LPAs) that are signatories of the EU Covenant of Mayors initiative and have Sustainable Energy and Climate Action Plans (SEAPs) aimed  at:

- Reducing energy consumption and CO₂ emissions by at least 30% by 2030.
- increasing resilience to the impact of the energy crisis and climate change.
      
Activities: (1) organise and integrate energy management processes within the organisational processes of each municipality (project beneficiary) with the involvement and communication with citizens and local stakeholders, monitoring the results of the PAEDC.

(2) Piloting the energy management system at local level, in combination with small-scale demonstration actions on the use of RES, will provide a basis for synthesizing.

 (3) promoting the new experience of transforming small towns into smart villages and cities with integrated energy solutions and for in-depth research, development and promotion of new energy technologies. The project aims to demonstrate innovative ways of using renewable energy sources, such as combining solar collectors and small wind turbines, photovoltaic panels and hybrid wind systems, energy generating bicycles.
